On Saturday, August 19th Usborne & Hibbert Mutual held an Open House to celebrate the opening of their new office building. It was a beautiful day with great company and delicious food. Guests included policyholders and members of the community. Exeter’s Mayor Maureen Cole, and Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb were also present.
Usborne & Hibbert Mutual began in 1876 in Farquhar, a small hamlet located about 10 kms outside of Exeter. In 1970 the company built a new building and moved to Main Street Exeter. Over the years the company grew and the building expanded in 1990. A couple of years ago it became clear that they had outgrown its existing building and a new building project was undertaken.
Due to the foresight of the Directors they had purchased the lot next door many years ago. Decisions and plans were made to build on the empty lot and tear down the existing building to make room for the parking lot. In January of this year the move to the new space occurred. The Directors and employees are very pleased with the modern design that incorporates the rural and historical roots of the company.
The Board and management would like to thank everyone who celebrated with us. Thank you for making this such a memorable occasion.
