Director of Accounting, Finance, & Compliance

Usborne & Hibbert (U&H) Mutual Fire Insurance Company is looking for a Director of Accounting, Finance & Compliance to join our leadership team! You will oversee and support all accounting and finance functions, including compliance with evolving standards and regulations such as IFRS17. The newly created Director role will collaborate effectively to deliver IT systems for the organization with a focus on cybersecurity, technological improvements, and contract management with vendor partners.

Responsibilities

• Create financial statements, analyze metrics, and track budgets
• Support CEO through management of reinsurance obligations and reporting
• Participate in developing and implementing U&H’s strategic plans
• Manage and monitor team workflows for efficiency, quality, and distribution of work
• Administer year-end and external audit processes
• Supervise A/R, claims, bank reconciliations, and investment reporting for a significant portfolio
• Offer guidance, instructions, and direction to team members, learning from each other

Qualifications

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• CPA designation, or equivalent
• 3+ years of accounting and finance managerial experience
• 5-7 years in financial / professional services
• Business analytics interest
