Policy Renewals

What to check for when your policy renews…

When your insurance policy renews it is important to check for any material change that has taken place over the last year. Material changes may include the following: finishing a residential basement, buying a trailer or boat, purchasing new or used equipment for your farm to name a few.
Although most insurance policies allow 14 days to report anything newly acquired, if it is not reported within that time frame it is considered – not insured.

Limits – Check policy limits whether it is a home, barn, tractor or even equipment. With items constantly changing in value it is important to review at least annually. It is easy to be underinsured, with the help of our agents we have the software to identify what your property is worth.

Discounts – It is in the insured’s best interest to ask or look for all the available discounts available to keep premiums at an affordable level. This may be simply checking your deductibles – higher deductibles offer greater savings. If you have been claims free you are also entitled to discounts. Speak with one of our agents to identify any savings.

Liability – Liability insurance provides the insured party with protection against claims resulting from injuries and damage to people and/or property. With litigation claims constantly on the rise, it is prudent to be well protected from unintentional acts.

With the busyness of life, things can be overlooked. It is important that you take time to evaluate any changes to ensure that you are adequately protected.
